Drawing on lessons learned throughout the Ignite Worth It Initiative —aimed at elevating industry business practices—Editor Laura Bickle will moderate an interactive discussion with event pros Lisa Zivontisis and Shaina Scrimgeour who have taken a thoughtful, intentional approach to their businesses and careers. Using that as a springboard, the group will participate in a group coaching session and share best practices, tips and lessons learned. Laura Bickle, Ignite
Laura Bickle has been the editor of Ignite magazine since 2013. In her 30-year journalism career, she has been on staff at Canadian Living, Glow and Today’s Parent and her articles have appeared in Chatelaine, Best Health and Professionally Speaking. In 2023, Laura and the Ignite team launched the Worth It initiative, focusing on advancing the conversation around value and fair business practices in the event industry. Lisa Zivontsis, CMP, DES, The Event Partner
Lisa Zivontsis is the Owner and Lead Event Manager at The Event Partner, an event logistics company based in Toronto Canada, servicing event needs all over the world. With expertise in logistics and problem solving, Lisa brings over 20 years of experience to meeting and event planning and prides herself on her exceptional service, diligence, and dedication to each project. Her extensive background involves planning corporate and association meetings and managing events from 10 to 2000 people, including conventions and trade shows.
Lisa is a member of the Canadian Society for Professional Event Planners (CanSPEP) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI). She holds the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) and Digital Events Strategist (DES) designations, giving her the tools to partner with clients in a variety of industries, work seamlessly with all audiences, and anticipate and overcome any challenges along the way.
Lisa is known for the attention to detail, energy, and humour she brings to every project. As your partner in planning, she is committed to executing your vision with care and professionalism, so you not only achieve your goals but enjoy the journey.
Shaina Scrimgeour, Gemstone Event Management
Shaina Scrimgeour is the Owner and Director of Events at Gemstone Event Management, also known as GEM; a thriving company she founded with her business partner in November 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In addition to her entrepreneurial pursuits, Shaina serves as the current President of CanSPEP (Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners), where she advocates for professional development and excellence in event planning.
Outside of her busy schedule, Shaina prioritizes maintaining a balanced lifestyle, nurturing her passion for personal growth through ongoing education and seeking meaningful experiences. Her approach to both her career and personal life underscores her dedication to creating meaningful and intentional experiences.
