COVID-19 presented significant challenges during my tenure as president. Despite the difficulties faced by both our members and the board of directors, we rose to the occasion. We held weekly check-ins with members to offer support, share experiences, and strengthen our connections. We organized numerous online social events, including a virtual Christmas celebration, the Victoria conference, and the industry’s first hybrid conference in Waterloo, led by Bettyanne Sherrer. During this time, the board also self-managed while navigating financial hardship, adding to everyone's responsibilities. Although it was an incredibly difficult period, it also became a time of deep connection—one that forged lasting bonds among board members and demonstrated the resilience of our community.
