Award Nominations Process and Criteria
It is that time of year again to recognize individuals who are shining lights amongst us! Nominations are now open for the CanSPEP Awards Gala being held live in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on August 2-5! Join us as we celebrate those who have gone above and beyond as we FIRE IT UP in Saskatoon. Who will you nominate? As the process includes a blind review, we encourage you to ensure that your nomination is as full and complete as possible. The more information you can provide the better you support the review process by the Selection Committee. We are unable to accept incomplete nominations.
Please review all award criteria carefully and prepare your nominee submission before completing online. This will be helpful for your online submission as you will be asked to provide specific examples regarding service.
All nominations must be made by two eligible CanSPEP members (nominator and seconder). Members cannot self-nominate.
Award Category – Volunteer of the Year
In appreciation of the value that CanSPEP places on volunteerism, this annual award recognizes a CanSPEP member who has demonstrated their commitment to the organization with a notable contribution of skills, time and effort within the past 24-months.

- A member in good standing.
- Please provide details of the volunteer roles the nominee has undertaken to CanSPEP events, initiatives or special projects in either a leadership position or committee role (200 word minimum).
- Please provide information that clearly demonstrates how the nominee is an ambassador for CanSPEP and is a positive role model in attitude and actions (200 word minimum).
- Please provide details of how the nominee collaborates with and supports other CanSPEP members as part of their volunteer activities (200 word minimum).
- Please share, in your own words, why you feel your nominee should receive this award. Feel free to add any additional information here.
Award Category – Industry Partner
In appreciation of the value that CanSPEP places on industry partners, this award recognizes a CanSPEP industry partner (individual) who has demonstrated his/her commitment by supporting and promoting the reputation of CanSPEP with the wider industry community.

Award Category – Heidi Wilker Excellence in Mentorship
In appreciation of the value that CanSPEP places on mentorship, and in honour of Heidi Wilker, long standing member of CanSPEP who has mentored countless colleagues, this award recognizes a CanSPEP member who has demonstrated his/her commitment to mentoring by guiding, supporting and promoting the training and career development of fellow members and who has had a significant positive impact on their mentees’ careers.

Award Category – Excellence in Leadership
As an association governed by volunteers, CanSPEP places a very high value on members who step forward to lend their skills (strategic and visionary thinking), passion, empathy and the required time commitment to the leadership roles (served as board member, and/or committee chair, and/or initiative lead, etc.). This award recognizes a CanSPEP member who has made substantial contributions to CanSPEP over a prolonged period of time.
